IMPACT OF ICT ON TEACHING AND LEARNING. A CASE STUDY OF SOME SELECTED UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA.

Abstract: This study examined the impact of ICT on teaching and learning a case study of some selected universities in Nigeria. This study adopted the simple random sampling technique in the three selected public universities from Lagos State, Ogun State and Oyo State. Two hundred and thirty-four questionnaires were completed and returned out of three hundred questionnaires distributed to all the three universities. The principal tools for analysis of data are carried out with the help of PPMCC and multiple regression analysis. The results reveal that that: there is a positive relationship between ICT and teaching and learning in Nigerian universities, ICTs offer great opportunity for teaching and learning to solve teaching and learning problems, the study further concludes that there is positive relationship among factors influencing the adoption of ICT (personal characteristics, organizational capacity, support factor and availability factor) and Teaching and learning in Nigeria university. In the light of the above conclusions, the study recommended that Nigerian universities should improve its organizational capacity (i.e. funding and infrastructures) among the factors that influences ICT adoption in Nigerian universities. In addition, Nigerian universities should continue to promote the uses of ICT for teaching and learning.
